If you’re new to Match Masters, you may think perks are just a side feature that you won’t really need because the boosters are the main power-ups.
That’s the quickest way to stay stuck in “almost winning” mode.
Perks are powerful just like boosters (and even more). In fact, you can have a strong booster and still lose the game if your perks are wrong.
In this guide, you’ll learn what Match Masters perks are, how to unlock them, and how to use them.

What Are Perks in Match Masters?
Perks are powerful single use power-ups that you must select before you start a match. And they help you create strategic effects like destroying, reordering, or manipulating board pieces.
You and your opponent have to pick two perks before the match starts, then you can activate them during the game, mostly at the critical moments when the board layout is not in your favor.
The best part? Using a perk doesn’t cost you a move!

Types of Perks
There are two types of perks in Match Masters, and I will explain each below:
Basic Perks
The basic perks are “Hammer” and “Shuffle” which you will get from the beginning. They don’t cost you any coins and they never run out.
But on the other hand, they don’t have a big impact on the board. Honestly, I’m using them only when I don’t have the premium perks or when I run out of coins.
Premium Perks
Premium perks are stronger than the basic ones and they give you more control on the board. You can use them to duplicate pieces, remove pieces or rows/columns, and charge your booster.
But you need to unlock them, then you can buy them with coins or earn them through events and tournaments, etc. When you reach a high ranking like Masters Ranks or Legends League, you’ll notice that most pro players use only the premium perks with SE/Legendary boosters.
How to Unlock New Perks
You’ll unlock new perks as you earn trophies and climb the ranks, so here is how many trophies you need to unlock each perk:
- 675 trophies: Mini Mastermind
- 900 trophies: Bomb Delivery
- 1,500 trophies: Create Lightning
- 1,950 trophies: Detonator
- 2,425 trophies: Mini Wand
- 2,950 trophies: Remove Cross
- 3,400 trophies: Energy Boost
- 4,000 trophies: Star Maker
- 6,000 trophies: Teleport
- 10,000 trophies: Mini Cobra
- 16,000 trophies: Checkerboard
- 30,000 trophies: Mini Cleo

How to Change Perks
You’ve unlocked your first premium perk and don’t know how to activate it? Here is how to change perks in Match Masters:
Step #1: Select the game mode you want to play and tap “Play” on the home screen:
Step #2: You’ll be redirected to the booster selection screen. Then look at the bottom left of your screen and you’ll see your current active perks, now tap the one you want to change:
Step #3: Finally, you can see the available perks, choose the one you want to use and tap “Play” to start the game:

During the match, look at the bottom left of the screen again, and tap the perk you want to use.
Note: Some perks require selecting a piece to work.
How to Get Free Perks in Match Masters
Thankfully, there are many ways to earn free perks in Match Masters, and here are some to kick-start your journey:
- Claim daily free gifts: you visit our Match Masters free gifts page and collect free gifts every day (including perks).
- Spin the lucky wheel daily: you’ll get a free lucky spin every 24 hours that can give you free perks or even perk boxes.
- Join a team and request perks: when you’re in an active team, you can request perks and your teammates can donate them (they don’t lose any personal perks).
- Watch ads for free rewards: you can visit the store in the game and watch a short video ad for free perks.
- Finish your daily tasks: Match Masters give you some simple tasks every day, and when you complete them, you earn free rewards such as perks, boosters, stickers and more.
- Play events and tournaments: events and tournaments are delightfully difficult but they give you amazing prizes if you win, and you can earn a bunch of perks alongside other rewards.
- Complete sticker albums: collect and trade stickers to complete album pages or even the full album which can reward you with a crazy amount of perks.
- Play arcade games: play mini-games to earn arcade tickets and exchange them for perks in the Prize Center.
